Opinion Poll

Formal opinion polls did not exist until the 1930s, but they have become increasigly important, Particularly in politics and business. The Gallup Poll boasts a remarkable record. for national elections have deviated on the average by only 2.3% point from the actual elections returns. An impressive performance despite the 1948 Dewey Truman Gaffe that Gallup and most other pollsters committed. since 1936, and in the period of 1970-76 it was slightly more than one per cent.
