Crossword Puzzles

   Crossword puzzles first appeared as a parlour game in England in the 1800s. They were simple world squares in which a group of words were so arranged that letter read the same both down and
across. Modern crosswords, such as those we work today, were designed by a newspaper editor named Arthur Wynne, and were first published In 1913 in the New York world. Today, crossword puzzles appear in daily and weekly newspapers, magazine and in books devoted exclusively to crossword puzzles. Special dictionaries have even been created to help the puzzle slover
