DIESEL ENGINE

The first diesel engine was made in 1897 by the German inventor Rudolf Diesel (1858 - 1913). The engine uses oil as a fuel ; the air is heated before the fuel is let in and then the oil is sprayed into the cylinder so that tiny drops are ignited in the hot air. Today diesel engines are commonly used for buses taxis and lorries.
